Fidelis Insurance makes Shane O’Donovan group chief actuary

Fidelis Insurance Holdings, a strategic capital allocator and risk selector in speciality insurance and reinsurance, has appointed Shane O’Donovan as group chief actuary.

Mr O’Donovan will continue to report to Jonny Strickle, group managing director, who will keep overseeing the group’s actuarial function.

He is presently the Ireland head of actuarial function, responsible for leading Fidelis Insurance Group’s actuarial strategy and strengthening the enterprise-wide risk framework.

In the new role, Mr O’Donovan will oversee actuarial capabilities globally. He will also be responsible for optimising allocation and deployment of capital across underwriting partners and opportunities to support long-term strategic objectives.

Mr Strickle said: “This promotion recognises Shane’s significant contributions over the past five years, not only within the actuarial function but also across the broader business. He has played a key role in advancing our strategic objectives and has been instrumental in building out our actuarial capabilities.”

Mr O’Donovan has more than 15 years of actuarial experience.
