Conduit adds industry heavyweights to board
Conduit Holdings Ltd has appointed three senior insurance figures to its board in an effort to strengthen governance as the Bermudian-based reinsurer continues its expansion.
The company, which is listed in London and is the parent of Conduit Re, said Richard Lightowler, Peter Mullen and Penny Shaw joined as non-executive directors yesterday.
The appointments bring a mix of Bermuda market experience and global insurance expertise to the board as Conduit builds on its recent growth and delivers long-term returns to shareholders, as well as positions itself for long-term growth in the market.
Nicholas Shott, chairman, said the trio would add “distinguished insurance industry experience and proven judgment”.
Mr Lightowler spent nearly two decades at KPMG in Bermuda, where he led the firm’s insurance practice and advised major international insurers and reinsurers on audit, capital markets and transactions.
Mr Mullen is a former chief executive of Artex Risk Solutions, a Bermudian-headquartered captive manager, and previously led Aon’s global captive and insurance management business. He has more than 40 years of experience across insurance and alternative risk markets.
Ms Shaw is a qualified actuary and former group chief risk officer at Hanover Insurance Group. She has also held senior roles at Hiscox and Chubb, with expertise spanning risk management, capital modelling and regulatory engagement.
Mr Lightowler and Ms Shaw will serve on Conduit’s audit and remuneration committees, while Mr Mullen will join the remuneration committee.
Conduit has shown strong financial performance in recent years, including reporting 8.5 per cent premium growth in the first nine months of 2025. The company, which operates as a pure-play reinsurer, launched in 2020.
