Montauk Point hires senior risk adviser
Montauk Point Ltd has appointed Gero Michel, a re/insurance industry veteran, to lead its risk and analytics platform.
The Bermudian-based company said the move is meant to strengthen its client-facing capabilities in risk capital analytics and advisory, as it sees increased demand for more sophisticated insight across the reinsurance market.
Dr Michel brings more than 35 years of experience, including senior roles at American International Group, Montpelier Re, Risk Management Solutions, Chaucer and Aon. His background spans underwriting, enterprise risk management and portfolio optimisation, with expertise in catastrophe and emerging risks like climate and cyber.

In his new role, Dr Michel will lead the firm’s risk and analytics platform, focusing on delivering portfolio optimisation tools, capital efficiency strategies and model governance frameworks. He is also expected to help translate complex modelling outputs into more accessible, decision-ready insights for clients.
Montauk Point provides independent advisory services to third-party capital providers, helping investors and underwriters navigate the reinsurance cycle and improve their portfolio performance.
