Hamilton Insurance Group has added a veteran insurance executive to its board of directors.
The Bermudian-headquartered re/insurer announced that Peter Wilson was elected to the board at the company’s annual general meeting of shareholders.
David Brown, chairman of the board at Hamilton Insurance Group, said Mr Wilson brought extensive experience across global speciality insurance markets.
“I am pleased to welcome Peter to the Hamilton Board,” Mr Brown said. “Peter brings extensive industry and leadership experience across global speciality insurance markets, with a strong track record of disciplined underwriting, operational leadership and board governance.
“Peter’s perspectives and judgment will be invaluable as the board continues to guide Hamilton’s long-term strategy.”
Pina Albo, group chief executive, said Mr Wilson’s international experience aligned closely with Hamilton’s focus on profitability and growth.
“Peter is a highly respected industry leader whose international experience aligns exceptionally well with Hamilton’s focus on cycle management, sustainable profitability and strategic growth,” Ms Albo said.
“I look forward to working closely with Peter as we continue to advance Hamilton’s strategic priorities.”
Mr Wilson most recently served as chief executive of Axis Insurance. He also held senior leadership positions at CNA Insurance Companies, including president and chief operating officer of CNA Specialty, and started his career at American International Group.
He has also served on several insurance and reinsurance boards, including Axis Specialty, CNA Europe and QBE Insurance Group, where he sat on the audit and risk committees.
Hamilton said Mr Wilson has more than three decades of leadership experience across speciality, commercial and professional liability insurance markets.
