Arch Capital Group has promoted Jerome Halgan to chief executive of its global reinsurance operations as part of a senior leadership reshuffle at the Bermudian-headquartered re/insurer.

The company announced that Mr Halgan has been appointed CEO of Arch Global Reinsurance Group, while Michael Schmeiser has been named CEO of Arch Global Mortgage Group. Both executives will continue reporting to Maamoun Rajeh, president of Arch.

Mr Halgan joined Arch in 2009 and has served as president and chief underwriting officer of Arch Reinsurance Group since 2024. He has also led Arch Re Bermuda as CEO since 2018.

Mr Schmeiser joined Arch in 2017 and has served as president and CEO of Arch US Mortgage since 2019.

Mr Rajeh said both executives had demonstrated strong leadership throughout changing market conditions.

“Jerome and Michael are experienced leaders who are deeply grounded in Arch’s underwriting culture and corporate values, and they have consistently outperformed through market cycles,” he said.

He added that their leadership would help the company deploy capital in a disciplined way, strengthen client relationships and deliver long-term value to shareholders.

Mr Halgan said he was honoured to lead the company's global reinsurance platform and would focus on underwriting discipline and long-term client relationships.

“Our approach remains consistent: applying disciplined underwriting, managing the cycle carefully and deepening our relationships with brokers and cedants,” he said.

The appointments follow the recent expansion of Mr Rajeh’s responsibilities as president of Arch.
