Aon appoints David Crofts to capital solutions role
Aon has named David Crofts global head of capital solutions for financial sponsors, effective August 1. Mr Crofts will report to Joe Peiser, CEO of Risk Capital for Aon.
Aon, a risk adviser, insurance broker and professional services firm, said the appointment reflects the company’s continued focus on helping financial sponsor clients access and evaluate investment opportunities across the insurance and reinsurance ecosystem.
In his role, Mr Crofts will work with financial sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds and other capital providers seeking access to insurance-related opportunities, including investments in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance businesses, life insurance and wealth-related opportunities.
“Investor interest in insurance-related opportunities continues to grow as capital providers seek differentiated sources of returns less correlated to traditional asset classes and broader market cycles,” Mr Peiser said.
“David brings extensive experience from both the investment and risk management sectors, and a deep understanding of the insurance market and Aon’s capabilities.”
Mr Crofts rejoined Aon in 2025 as head of financial sponsors for EMEA, returning to the firm after nearly six years, having previously served as a managing director of Aon’s Global Risk Consulting business. Between his two tenures at Aon, he spent almost eight years at Mubadala Investment Company as executive director, enterprise risk management. Earlier in his career, he served as group risk and property director at Cadbury.
“We are seeing significant engagement from investors seeking exposure to opportunities across the insurance ecosystem,” Mr Crofts said.
“Aon’s breadth of capabilities across Risk Capital enables our firm to bring a differentiated perspective and set of solutions to these clients.
