Bermuda singers to accompany Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Locals will be treated again this year by the talents of the multi-award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir when they visit in September. However, in preparation for their visit, Cornerstone Bible Fellowship is holding a special workshop this week on Thursday, June 1.

This pre-concert workshop will feature a general session, as well as seminars by Pastor Jim Cymbala and his wife, Carol.

According to Pastor Gary Simons, the goal is to develop a Bermuda choir that will sing at least one song with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir during their concert in the autumn.

"There will be an open session for everyone who wants to be involved, then we will break out into three groups," Pastor Simon explained.

Pastor Cymbala will take a group for church leaders, while his wife, Carol, will lead the mini music conference for music ministers and those interested in singing in the mass choir. There will also be a session for dancers and dance ministers.

Information will be available for those interested in volunteering, and Cornerstone hopes that other churches will get involved.

The church is also planning to hold a conference during the week leading up to the big concert in September at the Fairmont Southampton Princess.

"There will be a teen seminar on the Thursday night, ending in what we call a Teen Explosion," Pastor Simons said. "On the Friday night there will be a music conference and a conference for church leaders and lay people."

An all-day session, "Solving the People Puzzle," will be held on the Saturday, with a concurrent children's programme, "Kid's Praise," which will take young people through the Old Testament and end with a puppet concert.

"It's all about unity," Pastor Simmons said.
