Bike/hike for Bibles
Young people in Nigeria will soon be receiving/relieving Bibles from Bermuda.
The move will come as a result of the Bermuda Bible Society?s annual fundraiser.
The Society have organised a bike/hike for Bibles to take place on Saturday, February 28.
Monies raised from that event will be used to purchase the Bibles which will then be sent to the West African nation.
?Many students are becoming more interested in reading the Scriptures,? said Society member Mingo Cook. ?Christian students are also becoming more increasingly involved in spreading the Gospel message to non-Christians.
?Many young Christians come from poor areas and they are not able to purchase all of the Scriptures they need for themselves or give to someone else.
?Through this project the Bible Society will be able to supply religious education teachers and others with Bibles free of charge.?
Organisers are aiming to raise $5,000 in the drive which would see participants sponsored to bike or hike from the Botanical Gardens to the Somerset bus terminal.
Bikers and hikers are requested to be people who:
believe the Word of God is important
want to help to spread the Word of God
are willing to give a morning to raise money
will ride or walk from Paget to Somerset.
The organisers have laid out conditions participants must adhere to in order to be included in the event. They include riding and walking in a safe manner at all times and not racing. Also included ion a clause stipulating that the event is ?substance free and that the use of bad language or other unacceptable behaviour could result in my exclusion from the event ?.
