Cooper named to Anglican legal post
The Bishop of Bermuda, the Rt. Rev. Ewan Ratteray, has appointed lawyer David G. Cooper to the post of Chancellor to the Anglican Church of Bermuda.
In the capacity of Chancellor, Mr. Cooper is now the chief legal officer of the Diocese of Bermuda and advisor to the Bishop on legal matters. His appointment is effective immediately.
Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1971 and the Bermuda Bar in 1974, Mr. Cooper has practised law in Bermuda for 28 years, and is currently a partner in the law firm of Cox, Hallet & Wilkinson.
He attended the University of Toronto where he received a Bachelor of Commerce degree, as well as the University of Cambridge where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in law.
Mr. Cooper is a keen golfer, and is active in various social and business groups as well as being a member of St. Anne's Church in Southampton. He is married to Elizabeth, and the pair have four children, Katie, Guy, Damian and Sarah.
