Jehovah's Witnesses are currently holding their annual 'Deliverance at Hand!' convention at the Ruth Seaton James auditorium.

The emphasis of the three-day event, which ends tomorrow, is on mankind's need for deliverance "from the effects of inherited sin and its consequence, death". Talks and symposiums focus on "comforting scriptures" detailing "God's loving provision for everlasting deliverance made possible by the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ".

Witnesses believe that "current events fulfil Bible prophecies indicating that God's day of reckoning is fast approaching".

Each day's programme is based on an appropriate Bible passage, with the aim of stressing compelling scriptural reasons for taking decisive action in terms of one's personal direction in life.

Highlights of the convention include today's baptism ceremony and tomorrow's Bible-based drama presentation.

A public discussion of the topic 'Deliverance by God's Kingdom is at Hand' will be presented tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Programme sessions begin at 9.30 a.m. daily. Admission is free, and no collections are taken.
