Modern day saint carries Bahai message of unity
Iranian born Dr. Mauloud Stander, a modern day saint, is visiting Bermuda from Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Stander arrived on May 3 and will leave on May 17 heading for New York, the Caribbean and South America.
She has travelled the world for a third of her life, reaching out to the less fortunate and carrying the Bahai message of unity. She came to Bermuda for the same purpose, but was surprised to see that the Island was rich and no one needed her help in that way.
For all the places that she has travelled, she said: "I never give a penny in the way of help believing in the Bahai way of helping individuals to help themselves."
She went to Germany fell in love with both Germany and a German, married and has one child who is 36. Dr. Stander speaks five languages which helps on her travels.
She is a doctor of psychology, a chiropractor and a physiotherapist.
Travelling extensively through Russia, Turkey, the Ivory Coast, all the Pacific islands, Luxembourg, Panama, India, Thailand and Hong Kong to name only a few.
Dr. Stander takes off three to four months out of the year and travels the rest of the year, helping wherever she can and in whatever capacity. The rest of the year she works and saves for her next ticket out of Melbourne. Before setting out Dr. Stander contacts the Bahai centres in a particular countries to find out where she can be of service.
The main focus of the Bahai is to educate people. Dr. Stander said: "If you educate a woman, you educate the world." She loves her work, learning from and helping the people she meets.
