Seminar teaches people to love from the heart
Members of the Unity Foundation of Truth and others interested members of the community had the privilege of sharing in a unique workshop on Thursday night with the Rev. Paulette Pipe.
?The workshop ? Languages of the Heart ? was designed as a master language class about living from your heart space,? Rev. Pipe explained.
?I want to explore the idea that we are not always conscious of what is in our heart space.?
While most people believe that the heart is full of love, Rev. Pipe said that, instead, it may be filled with disappointment, bitterness and anger. This negativity can then damage your outward relationships.
?Through scripture, prayer and meditation we explored what is in our heart space. It?s about being self-aware. You are the observer, the compassionate observer of your self.?
Through the workshop, attendees had the opportunity to first explore what was hidden in their own being, learning to release the negative and fill themselves with the positive, a process that Rev. Pipe bases on Psalm 51:10, ? , O God; nd renew right spirit with .?
The process is similar to the traditional format for prayer in the Unity faith of denials and affirmations.
?We deny it by not giving it power, and affirm by claiming the powerful truth of who we are.?
Once negativity in the heart space is released, it can then be filled with love by embracing positive words, decreeing truth and creating a new mindset.
Rev. Pipe also wanted to bring these basic concepts into reality by helping attendees move beyond a head knowledge of love, to actually living in love.
?I wanted to open ourselves to the idea if God were to write a letter to our heart, what would it say. We are told in scripture to, ?Love the Lord,? and ?love your neighbour,? but we often forget the ?love yourself? part.
?As the evening went on, the attendees began to realise that they had to apply the principle of love. When you are affirming and applying love in your life, you are in a better position to give and receive love.?
Unity Foundation of Truth is located on the corner of Union and Victoria Streets. They hold services on Sundays, and are open for drop in meditation and prayer services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.
