Dear Sir,

Please permit me some space to comment on a wonderful effort by a local church group.

On the evening of December 21, my wife and I attended the final performance of an outdoor Christian play performed by a good number of members from the Evangelical Church on Mission Road in Paget.

The weather was perfect for what proved to be a far more enjoyable evening than had been expected.

The bleachers were full to capacity, youngsters lay on blankets on the ground, and it was ?standing room only? for a many viewers- but for them I am sure it was well worth it.

The play itself lasted approximately seventy-five minutes and comprised a cast of over seventy players including a youth choir. Although the play centred around the Christmas story, the re-enactments began with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and skilfully wove its way through Herod?s ordering of the census, The Blessed Virgin Mary?s pregnancy, Mary?s visit to her cousin, Mary and Joseph?s trip to Bethlehem, The Nativity Scene, and all culminating with the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

The set designs were extremely well made and all costumes looked very realistic.

Live animals were used in various scenes including the Live Nativity.

The audio for the entire production had been pre-recorded using the voices of the actors who were performing in the play.

The music itself was well chosen and added to the mood of the evening and the spirit of the season.

As I understand it, a number of containers with building materials arrived in Bermuda in September and since that time, untold hundreds if not thousands of man hours of hard work must have gone into all the preparations.

There was no charge for admission, apple cider was offered to all, and participants were available after the play to answer questions from audience members. In addition, the children were delighted to be allowed to pet the animals.

A heartfelt ?thank you? to the Evangelical Church and congratulations on a job well done.

Indeed you gave Bermuda a wonderful Christmas gift for all to enjoy. We hope that you will repeat it next year.
