Visionary author finds inspiration during time of crisis

Do you want to live? David Pitt's new book offers readers a chance to change their life from the inside out. photo by Glenn Tucker

Learning about ourselves, God and His love, and how to live our life is the central theme of new book, ?Do You Want to Live?? by local author, David Pitt.

?Actually, it was a vision, so I had to write it. I really had no choice,? chuckles Mr. Pitt, while explaining why he wrote this book, which is based on visions he?s received over the last several years.

?I guess it started back in 1971 at the edge of The Deep ? that?s like way out there ? and while out there, in a small 17-foot boat with five people on it with no life raft, with no compass, with nothing. A storm came up and we were really fighting the water to get back in. It took us four, four-and-a-half hours of real struggles. And when we got back, we all kissed the ground. I promised God that I?d do anything for saving my life and that was when I started having these visions, which led to the book,? he remembers.

The book is essentially a work-book, according to Mr. Pitt, that is designed to take you inside and bring change to your life.

?The first half is what I would call prior preparations for the journey,? he explains. ?If you were going on a journey, you would make sure you had your credit card, you would pack a suitcase, get your hotel established.?

?The crust of the book is in the middle. That is where the journey takes place.?

The book, which was graphically designed by Mr. Pitt, was carefully crafted so that all of the graphics are quantified by the scriptures underneath. The book is also colour-coded to help people on their personal journey.

?What one would do is, after they got a good look at the book and had a good feel for it, every day, they?ll try to find one scripture that spells out the word to them in detail. What does it mean. Because the journey really takes place inside of us. It?s not what happens outside of us; it?s an inside journey. So it means that you can either do it as a group or you could do it by yourself.

?This is true to life. If we would only acknowledge and believe, ask and begin, accept and bond, abide and build, we will be able and bold, have answers and balance and receive assurance and blessings, because our target, on the cover, is to get to heaven.?

In order to maintain complete control over the book, Mr. Pitt chose to self-publish the book through Trafford Publishing, which has offices in the US, Canada and the UK. Mr. Pitt says the book sells for $28.

?It?s just unfortunate that the price is high. I think it may be kind of a draw-back. But after you get to know the contents, its worth every penny. It?s just that the cost of printing colour is so expensive, even overseas,? he says.

Mr. Pitt has plans to write a second book, a text to compliment the workbook.

?I have plans of writing the actual story. The actual story will take you inside of your mind, because I think that people grow in spirit, mind and body,? he says. ?I do have a fair idea of what I want to put in it, I just haven?t had the time to devote to it.?

?The best way to get to know the book would be to sit down with me and I'll walk you through it,? he says.
