AME church puts focus on family life
activities next week.
Somerset's Allen Temple AME Church will hold its 27th annual Parents Thanksgiving Celebrations.
And its theme will be "Parenting -- Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow''.
Activities start at 8 p.m. on Wednesday with a Family Revival Service led by the Brangman family.
The following day there will be a Fellowship Supper and Panel Discussion, starting at 7 p.m., featuring two panelists.
These will be ex-schoolteacher Mrs. Frances Burch and Sandys Secondary School principal Mr. Melvyn Bassett.
Friday will highlight the need for young people to appreciate their parents.
The Youth Give Thanks session will begin at 7 p.m.
And on Sunday there will be an 8 a.m. Holy Communion Service, followed by an 11 a.m. Parents Thanksgiving Worship.
Mr. Reuben Lambert, an administrative assistant for Allen Temple, underlined the family theme.
"We realise that the community is a product of our homes, and when parents are aware of their responsibility to bringing up children in a way they should, the community will suffer less and progress more.
"A lot of the ills we suffer arise because of problems in the home.''
