AME churches launch young adults network
spiritual needs of young adults.
The Young Adult Network, which is comprised of 10 young adults was instituted in June by Bishop the Rev. Phillip R. Cousin, who felt the church could do more for young adults in todays society.
Executive co-ordinator of the Network Ms. Leslie Clarke said: "The Young Adult Network is determined to meet the spiritual, social, economic, political and any other needs that are unique to young adults aged 18 years and older who are in the AME Church as well as in the community at large.'' This weekend on December 3 and 4 the Network will hold its first convention at the Sonesta Beach Hotel.
"It has been designed towards helping Christian young adults face day to day issues in their marriages, in the workplace and with their finances, and it will also be a time for them to fellowship and interact with each other,'' Ms.
Clarke said.
"We have over the past few months hosted political forums and other social activities where young adults have been able to interact and deliberate on issues affecting them, and we will continue to sponsor similar programmes and events in the upcoming year.'' Ms. Clarke added: "We believe that the issues that will be discussed will make a huge positive impact in the lives of those attending as well as the Bermudian community.'' The programme begins with a worship service at 8 p.m. on Friday night at Mt.
Zion AME Church with speaker Rev. Keith Hayward.
And on Saturday there will be a day of workshops and activities which starts with a breakfast at the hotel at 7.30 a.m.
