He was born into Persian nobility in Teheran, Iran in 1817 and in 1863 he declared himself to be the one that all the previous prophets had foretold and was bitterly opposed and persecuted.
During nearly 40 years of exile and imprisonment, he committed to writing the teachings of his revelation, some of them in letters to the most important kings and leaders of religion, as well as teaching and training his followers His fourth and last place of banishment was the prison city of 'Akka m, Palestine, where he passed away in 1892 at the age of 74.
Baha m'i ms give equal homage to all the past prophets, but believe that religion progressively evolves and that Baha m'u'lla mh is God's spokesman for this age.
The Scriptures of the Baha m'i m Faith are translated into more than six hundred languages.
The Baha m'i m Faith is the second most widely spread world religion after Christianity with members in more that 200 countries, territories and islands.
