Church holds Gospel Crusade
Gospel Crusade at the Ruth Seaton James Centre.
It will have as its theme "Preaching the Gospel...That they all may be one'' and organisers promise there will be services, preaching, and singing every night from May 3 to May 7.
The Crusade will feature evangelists R.C. Wales of New York City, Samuel Ponds of Rockford, Illinois, Olu Shabazz of Pontiac, Michigan, and Charlie McLendon of Jacksonville, Florida.
The keynote speaker will be W. F. Washington of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
On the Island to help organise the Crusade is evangelist Gerald Wilder of Dayton, Ohio.
"I'm here to assist the local congregation in their preparations,'' Mr.
Wilder said this week. "I want to give the entire community a personal invitation to come out and hear the message.'' He added: "This is an attempt to unify the followers of Christ in the Island.
Being a follower of Christ is facing or accepting his duty to rule our lives.'' Mr. Wilder said people of all religions, and all Christian denominations are invited to attend.
"Our goal is to present the Gospel in its truthfulness and its wholeness.
This is not a fund raising effort. There is no admission fee.'' He said the evangelists will preach in "a simple but dynamic'' ways and promised the Bermudian public will talk about it for "a long time''.
Mr. Wilder added: "It will be a memorable event. Thousands have obeyed the Gospel as a result of these crusades in the Caribbean and around the world.'' Helping out: Gerald Wilder Graphic file name: PASTOR
