Conference raises cash for Ethiopia
Book Centre demonstrated their support for the work of the Bermuda Red Cross in reference to its Ethiopian Drought Appeal.
Two cheques totaling $2,000 were presented to Ann Spencer-Arscott, Director of the Bermuda Red Cross.
In contributing the funds to the Red Cross, Dr. Simmons, president of Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, observed the efforts of the Adventist Disaster Relief Agency world-wide, ARDA, and their contributions of materials, medicines, and tents on a wide scale to address the life threatening crisis that has been experienced in Ethiopia and other hard pressed areas of the world.
Since the Adventist churches of Bermuda are part of ARDA's effort, the conference administration felt the work of the Bermuda Red Cross could only increase efforts to address such a huge challenge.
"Our prayers as people in Bermuda,'' says president Dr. Carlyle Simmons, "should be for peace, for calm and for rain for drought stricken Ethiopia and other parts of the world who are experiencing similar or different challenges.''
