The 1997 "Faith in God's Word'' District Convention of Jehovah Witnesses was held at the Bermuda Athletic Association Gymnasium from July 11 to 13.

The opening day of the convention featured the discourse "A Book For All People'' by David Branco of Devonshire.

Day two of the meeting saw nine new `ministers' baptised before a crowd of 590. Each member of Jehovah's Witness is ordained as a minister at their baptism. Thereafter they minister to family, friends and the public by preaching under the direction of his local congregation. And on Sunday, a crowd of 702 watched the dramatic presentation entitled "Keep Your Eyes Simple''.

There are over five million Jehovah's Witnesses in more than 200 countries world-wide.

Each year the church holds district conventions "to provide spiritually up building information for themselves as well as others who love God''.

The convention programmes consisted of presentations and discussions under the theme "Faith in God's World''. A total of 193 district conventions will be held throughout the summer, with total attendance expected to exceed almost one-and-a-half million people.
