Evangelist to inspire women
contribute spiritually.
Evangelist Yvonne Ramsay, of Warwick Holiness Church, will try to inspire women as one of the facilitators at next month's the Bermuda Interdenominational Women's Conference.
Mrs. Ramsay said her seminar, entitled "Match Me If You Can'', would examine how women are similar and unique and how God uses them.
"My goal is to have them recognise their potential and the potential they have in God,'' she said. "Each one of us has a purpose. I want them to know what role they play.'' Mrs. Ramsay, who has been involved with the church for 26 years, said she hoped the women would leave feeling more confident and ready to make a contribution.
She added that she was glad that only women were attending the November 21 to 24 meeting.
"This is a time for us to be built up spiritually,'' Mrs. Ramsay said. "It takes women to lift up women. God can use women to lift each other up.'' Although she grew up in the church, Mrs. Ramsay said she became "saved'' when she was 18 years old.
"I was brought up in the church as a child,'' she explained. "At 18 I made a commitment. But I always felt God calling me even before I made the commitment.'' In 1990, Mrs. Ramsay said, she became licensed as an evangelist at her church.
"Different churches use different title,'' she explained. "At my church we do not call women reverends. They are either called pastors or evangelists.
but basically they are the same.'' Over the past ten years Mrs. Ramsay has taken courses through the United Christian College of the Bermuda district and currently she is pursuing an associates degree in religion.
