Following in Christ's footsteps
witness the annual Good Friday re-enactment of Christ's walk to Calvary.
Jesus's final moments on earth were brought to life by Christians of all denominations who dressed up for the procession and played out Bible scenes.
Around 40 people were in costume for the event, which began in the 1980's, but tourists and locals who followed and sang hymns on the walk swelled the numbers to more than 100.
They gathered at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Methodist Church and walked to Richard Allen A.M.E. Church where they re-enacted Judas receiving 30 pieces of silver.
At the Unfinished Church, Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, while at the Salvation Army, the Sanhedrin High Priest questioned Christ.
At Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Peter denied Jesus. Pontius Pilate's release of Barabbas to the crowd was then portrayed at St. Peter's Church.
The event culminated at Ordnance Island, where Christ, played by Eugene Wainwright, was crucified.
Following the celebrations Mr. Wainwright said: "It went very well. We didn't have a cruise ship in this year so there weren't as many people, but it went very well.''
