Prison Fellowship to mark world-wide Week of Prayer
The Prison Fellowship of Bermuda will take part in an upcoming world-wide Week of Prayer.
Chairman of the Prison Fellowship, Jack Harris, said the local branch will join ministries from 83 countries for the International Week of Prayer to be held from April 26 to May 3.
Mr. Harris said Christians from around the world would set aside those seven days to pray for prisoners, their families, correction officials and "especially'' the victims of crime.
This year's theme for the international event will be "Forgiving One Another'', taken from Ephesians 4:32 in the Bible.
"To forgive is to allow somebody to look forward with hope, instead of remaining vengefully fixated on the past,'' Mr. Harris said. "It's as much for the victim's benefit as it is for the offender's.
"We are also praying for victims of crime. We're praying that they have their emotional and physical wounds healed and that they are able to find reconciliation, forgiveness and closure.''
