Roof expert coming to Island

Embassy in Moscow arrives on the Island today to assess damage to the Anglican Cathedral in Hamilton.

John Castleman will assess the copper roof on the landmark building which has leaked in recent years.

Mr. Castleman, of Norman and Underwood in Leicester, England, has also worked on other cathedrals in England which have copper roofs.

The cathedral raised $150,000 in December with its "Roofle'' draw to repair the roof. Mr. Castleman will spend several days assessing the roof.

The Rt. Rev. Ewen Ratteray, the Bishop of Bermuda, said: "Mr. Castleman has very kindly consented to come and look at the roof and give the cathedral vestry a report on its condition, and make recommendations for its repair and continued maintenance.''
