Special treat in store for local congregation
senior minister within the church from Washington, D.C.
LaFayette Seymour, senior minister of Unity in the US capital, will speak to the Unity congregation and interested members of the public at regular services and special lectures.
On Sunday May 16, in addition to the regular Sunday 11 a.m. morning service, there will be an early morning class from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.
On Monday May 17 and Friday May 21 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a lunch-time Silent Unity session, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rev. Seymour will present the "Discover the Power Within'' class.
Rev. Seymour will again speak at the two Sunday services at 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
All services will be held on the second floor of the Rego Building, Reid Street, and all are welcome.
Rev. Seymour is from Memphis, Tennessee, and was educated at the University of Arkansas, Fisk and Harvard Universities.
He was ordained a Baptist minister in 1959 and completed theological studies at Harvard Divinity School in 1963 but did not accept a church post and joined the Peace Corps as both volounteer and administrator.
Rev. Seymour has also worked as educational adivsor to the British Commonwealth nation of St. Vincent.
Introduced to the metaphysical teachings of Unity in Miami, Florida, he completed Unity Ministerial School in 1982.
Rev. Seymour and his wife Barbara pioneered Unity teachings in Washington, D.C. from August 1982 and has served on many governing bodies within the Unity church.
