Witnesses worldwide in a series of conventions over the summer months.

More than 700 delegates from Bermuda and the United States will attend a three day District Convention which will be held at the Whitney Institute auditorium.

Worldwide, the conventions are expected to draw nearly 1.5 million people.

Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide number more than 5 million in 232 nations.

"The convention's programme emphasises that `God's Way' is the best way of life,'' spokesperson Wien Lindsay said. "Particularly for today's youth.'' Mr. Lindsay said attendees would hear ways of dealing with stress and improving family life.

He added: "They will learn that living by biblical principles is really the key to living today.'' "We recognise today that a lot of the violence committed today is domestic,'' Mr. Lindsay said. "We will show practical ways of dealing with that.'' Mr.

Lindsay also said that around 20 Witnesses from the various congregations and Kingdom Halls in Bermuda planned to attend a convention in South Korea later this summer.

The public is invited to attend all or any part of the convention which is free. It begins each morning at 9.30 a.m. and afternoon sessions begin at 1.30 p.m.

The convention's keynote address "Christ's Ransom -- God's way of salvation'' begins at 11.30 a.m. on Friday.

Of interest to parents is a symposium at 2.10 p.m. called "Parents-Inculcate God's way in your children''.

A baptism and ordination ceremony will be held at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday July 12 at 11.10 a.m. a dramatic play, "Families -- make daily Bible reading your way of life'', will be performed.

"The biblical play will demonstrate that the Bible is not just a book of ancient history,'' Mr. Lindsay explained, "but that its counsel is truly beneficial to both young and old today.'' Overseer David Branco will present the main talk of the convention at 1.50 p.m. on Sunday afternoon on the subject "The only way to everlasting life''.
