Big Snipes to hold concert
With a mix of hip-hop and R&B, singles from local gospel artist Big Snipes' latest record, "Buffet Style", has been a hit on the local radio charts.
After a private launch for the album a few weeks ago, the album will officially be released with a concert at the Heritage Worship Centre on November 6, starting at 7.30 p.m., under the distinguished patronage of Pastor Blanche Burchall and Church Councilman Craig Burchall, of Glory Temple.
"(The concert) will feature a bit of the old and a bit of the new, from both my albums," said Wesley Hall, aka Big Snipes.
In addition to music by Big Snipes, guest artists will include DJ Missian, Deondre, Ms Tish, Mt. Zion Men's Choir and Sandys Community Choir, as well as a special appearance by Sandys Showtime Drumline. MC for the evening will be John Duncan, member of the group JDJ, which also released an album recently.
"We are celebrating not just the album, but also the people who have helped me get this far."
While contemporary music will definitely be featured, the organisers do not want older generations to feel that they will be left out of the celebration.
"We're hoping that we get people of all walks of life," Big Snipes said. "It's not just for young people. The concert will contain music that will appeal not just to the hear, but hearts as well, and show that Christian music can be fun. The audience is going to find that they're going to be stimulated."
In addition to the release of his new album, which will be available Island-wide, and the celebratory concert, Big Snipes also hopes to debut a brand new website on the same day.
A website, www.bigsnipes.com, will be completely revamped and guests to the site will also have the ability to purchase music online. Part of the proceeds for the concert will be donated to the Yellow Rose Rest Home in St. David's.
"We're not just raising funds for ourselves, but we want people to know that we have the community in our hearts and minds," Big Snipes shared.
"I want to thank everyone so far who has supported not just myself, but my wife, Samantha, as well."
Corporate sponsors for the event include Gina Spence Productions for Christ, Barritt's, Capital G, BAC and the Ministry of Culture and Social Rehabilitation.
Praise and worship will begin at 7.15, while the concert itself will get under way by 7.30 p.m.
Tickets are available from the Heritage Bookstore, the Christian Book Store and Music World, as well as directly from Mr. Hall by calling 504-2878 or via email at wh_snipes@hotmail.com.
