Making a fresh start at Mt Zion AME

While many around the world are seeking to start, or restart, good habits with the dawning of a new year, church members at Mt. Zion AME are also seeking to make a fresh start in their walk with God through a week of inspirational messages and worship. Now an annual event, the purpose of the Fresh Start 2013 revival meetings is, according to Pastor Jahkimmo Smith, “to provide a space and opportunity for people to connect, and in many cases reconnect, with God in a way that is meaningful, empowering and life transforming, through dynamic worship, fellowship and relevant and powerful preaching.”The services will run from Monday, January 21st through to Wednesday, January 23rd, beginning at 7:30pm each night. Those attending will enjoy the music of guest worship leader of L'Tanya Moore Copeland, who is the minister of worship at St. Phillip AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia, a church that serves more than 7,000 people, and is said to be a very talented choir director, praise and worship leader and psalmist.“My prayer is that this years 2013 Fresh Start revival will, reconnect believers and seekers to God in a way that is meaningful and life transforming, inspire people to discover and to pursue with passion God's will for their lives and empower people to live their best life for the glory of God,” explained Pastor Smith.Much of that task will be left to the guest speaker, Dr Lance Watson, who is the senior pastor of St Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, a church of more than 12,000 people. Dr Watson is also the host of the television show, “Positive Power,” which can be seen in Bermuda every Sunday morning at 7.30am on the Word Network.“Pastor Watson is a gifted preacher, communicator, life coach, teacher and author.”While attending revival meetings is certainly a great boost for many, how does one make a fresh start in their life?“We can get a fresh start with God by allowing God the freedom to work on, in and through our lives,” shared Pastor Smith, “which means acknowledging our need for God, submitting ourselves to the will of God as expressed in the Word of God and making ourselves available to be used by God.”For more information on Fresh Start 2013, or the ministries of Mt.
