Anglicans to elect new Bishop tomorrow
The Island’s Anglican community is to elect its new Bishop tomorrow, following a Eucharist at the Anglican Cathedral in Hamilton. Votes will be cast by members of the Synod, the church’s administrative council, in a secret ballot. Members are choosing between Reverend Nicholas Dill, and Archdeacon Andrew Doughty. The election is decided by a simple majority of all votes cast by both clergy and lay members. The Eucharist will be held at 9am, and the election is set for after 10am. Both are open to members of the church and others, but only the Synod may vote.
