Dr Tony Evans to teach on Kingdom Men and Women

Respected author, pastor and speaker, Dr Tony Evans, along with his wife Dr Lois Evans, will be visiting Bermuda to share in a half-day conference hosted by the interdenominational group United for Change.“In the present society we’re in, we have a lot of problems with gang violence and other issues,” explained Pastor Gary Simons, pastor of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship and a member of the UFC administrative team. “People need to learn how to function under God’s rule, or purpose, during the season they are in.”The conference, ‘Kingdom Man and Woman’, is based on some of Dr Tony Evan’s books, ‘Kingdom Agenda: What a Way to Live!’, ‘Kingdom Man: Every Man’s Destiny, Every Woman’s Dream’ and ‘Kingdom Woman’.Dr Evans was the first African-American to graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary with a doctoral degree.He is the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and is the driving force behind The Urban Alternative, an national ministry and radio programme in the US, which can be heard in Bermuda on 105.1FM.Dr Evans also serves as an advisor for United For Change.Those attending the conference will first enjoy a session with Dr Evans on ‘Kingdom Man’, and then have the opportunity to choose from one of four breakout sessions led by local pastors.Pastor Eversley Lewis, of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship will speak on ‘The Top 3 Areas That Will Destroy a Marriage’, while Pastor Gary Simons will share on ‘Enough is Enough: How to Destroy and Prevent the Influence of the Gang Culture’.Word of Life Bermuda Director Mark Hall will talk on ‘Put Down the Microscope and Take up the Binoculars’, which will discuss goals for youth ministry, and Pastors Daron Lowe (Radnor Road Christian Fellowship) and Dr Ernest Peets Jr. (New Life Church of the Nazarene), will join together to speak on ‘Addiction, Substance Abuse and the Church’.The morning will conclude with a joint session with Dr Evans and his wife, Lois, on ‘Kingdom Woman’.“People need to seize the opportunity so they can look at their lives and see what God expects,” Pastor Simons shared. “We are missing the fresh definition from God’s word as to what He wants us to be.”The Kingdom Man and Woman conference will be held on Saturday, March 16 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess from 9am to 12.30pm.The cost is $30 per person and does not include meals.Space is limited and registration is a must; to register, visit the UFC website at www.ufcbermuda.org or call 734-4673.
