All invited to the annual re-enactment of the events of the first Good Friday

Often said to be the highlight of the Easter celebration in Bermuda, the East End Ministerial Association will once again be hosting The Walk to Calvary on Good Friday, March 29.The event brings crowds to the old Town of St George's as they watch a re-enactment of the events of the first Good Friday and the passion of Jesus Christ, from the betrayal of the disciple, Judas and the arrest of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, to Christ’s trial and crucifixion.Those attending are requested to gather at starting point, Ebenezer Methodist by 10.45am for the 11am start.The walk then progresses through the town to Richard Allen AME Church, on to the Garden of Gethsemane (The Unfinished Church), to the trial before Pilate at the Salvation Army, and Peter’s betrayal at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church.On the steps of St Peter’s Church, the final trial is held and Christ is condemned to the cross by Pontius Pilate, then a drum is beat as all march towards Golgotha at Ordnance Island.The cast includes Rev Cyril Simmons portraying Christ, Herbie Siggins as the High Priest, Quinton Furbert as Peter, Rocky Trott as Judas and Rev. Erskine Simmons as Pontius Pilate. Also participating are Oliver Pitcher as the Centurion and E Michael Jones as Barabbas. Rev Joyce Hayward will be narrating and the production this year has been directed by Juneanne Furbert.
