‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere’

Injustice: Linda Walia Ming says the world should not condone land theft such as happened in Tucker’s Town in Bermuda and all of North America (File photograph by Andrew Stevenson)

Imagine you help a wayfarer, a homeless family.

You give them your best hospitality and look forward to helping them get on their feet, however something strange is happening – your guests seem to be overtaking your home, and even your country. The coin somehow has flipped.

The people you had previously helped have turned against you, becoming beasts of the worst and cruellest kind. And no matter who you turn to for help, they all turn you away; in fact, they help your ex-guests completely take over your home, your neighbourhood, your country.

Hard to imagine, huh? Surely there are powers that be that would step in to help? But no. For more than 75 years there is no help, no sign of justice, just the situation getting worse and worse. No one comes forward to demand and seek justice for you. There is just blame and mistruths; propaganda and lies.

Unfortunately this scenario is real. It is not a dispute of religion but of greed and pure evil and a false façade of entitlement which has been encouraged by the so-called humanitarian forces that police the world.

This has to be pure evil and we cannot condone this behaviour if we are not evil ourselves. As the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr said: “He who accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really co-operating with it."

In fact, this seems to be a common occurrence. In Bermuda land was taken – in Tucker’s Town and in Southampton. Elsewhere, let’s not forget the First Nation people of North America – a whole continent was taken and the oppressed were made to look like the oppressors. Much of that is happening today. What’s to stop these types of atrocities from continuing anywhere in the world? As Dr King also stated: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Whoever among you sees evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot do so, then with his tongue. If he cannot do so, then with his heart, which is the weakest level of faith.’”

Well, it is clear the people of the world are finally using their voices to amass an outcry, like never before – of abhorrence to what has been happening for far too long in one of the holiest parts of the world. It is time.

God is watching. Allah is Al-Adl, The Just.

"But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners." Surah Al-Anfal: 30. We must believe that God will do things in His time and His time is always on time but in the meantime, let us be heard, loud and clear that justice must reign, silence condones and we in no way condone injustices, we will not be silent, our voices against injustices will be heard.“

May Allah make us victorious over our oppressors.

Bermuda have a blessed week. As salaam alaikum (Peace be unto you).
