Praying power is on for huge Premier League day

Bryan Mbeumo celebrates scoring for Manchester United

Let’s hope that Hurricane Melissa did not knock out too much power infrastructure and Belco is on the case to quickly repair those who are down, as a bumper weekend of Premier League action takes place.

There are seven games to watch today, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea featuring.

United forward Bryan Mbeumo has been the big mover in the competition, with 24 points after scoring three goals in the past two games.

With Matchweek 10 launching a new month, congratulations must go to Nori Furbert, whose team Odegaardianofdgalaxy won the October competition with 235 points. Yannick Dill’s Bream Team heads the overall standings with 610 points.

Today

Brighton & Hove Albion v Leeds United (noon)

One of Brighton’s best players, winger Kaoru Mitoma, should make a return to the side after injury, but their surprise package in terms of this competition is veteran Danny Welbeck.

Leeds have won only one of their four away games and that was against bottom club Wolves. Defender Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff have been their stars this season.

Prediction: 2-0

Burnley v Arsenal (noon)

Burnley have picked up seven of their ten points at home, and the good news for them is that only one of the 17 goals they have conceded this season has been from a set-piece. But they have already yielded three penalties, the joint-highest in the league, which makes Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka of interest this week

Mikel Arteta is still without playmaker Martin Odegaard, and William Saliba will face a late fitness test.

Prediction: 0-2

Crystal Palace v Brentford (noon)

Palace beat an understrength Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but their squad may start to struggle with the growing number of games. There are two ways to look at their home form, as they have won just once at Selhurst Park but are unbeaten.

Brentford have won their past two Premier League matches and in Dango Outtara, Kevin Schade and Mikkel Damsgaard they have some highly talented midfielders who could flourish this weekend.

Prediction: 1-1

Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers (noon)

A battle between two struggling teams and it’s not worth focusing too long on this game, as I can’t believe Fantasy League managers will be looking in their direction for value picks.

Prediction: 2-1

Nottingham Forest v Manchester United (noon)

Whisper it quietly, but United are into the top six after three straight wins, but they have still won only one of the four away games in the league. With Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko in the starting line-up, there is no longer anyone wondering where their goals will come from.

Forest lost their first league match under Sean Dyche against Bournemouth and points for their top players have dried up. Chris Wood and Oleksandr Zinchenko are rated as 50-50 for this match.

Prediction: 1-2

Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea (2.30pm)

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Mohammed Kudus, João Palhinha and Richarlison are all among the top ten players in their various categories. However, they have won just one of their four home games.

Only Tottenham and Arsenal have picked up more points on the road this season than Chelsea. Liam Delap was the latest Chelsea player to be sent off in midweek and is suspended.

Prediction: 2-2

Liverpool v Aston Villa (5pm)

Liverpool have fallen to seventh in the league and have lost six of their past seven games in all competitions. The dip in form is explained by no outfield player appearing in the top ten for fantasy points in any position.

Villa are up to eighth and have won six of their past seven games, but that has coincided with the return in goal of Emiliano Martínez. Defender Matty Cash is one of the most underrated players in this game, but a clean sheet here is probably unlikely.

Prediction: 2-1

Tomorrow

West Ham United v Newcastle United (10am)

The arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach at West Ham has not brought about any improvement in performances. They have conceded nine goals from set-pieces in nine league matches and could be set for more trouble here.

With 6ft 5in Dan Burn and 6ft 6in Nick Woltemade in the Newcastle line-up, the ball is likely to be pumped into the box on a number of occasions, with those two players in particular looking worthy of fantasy inclusion.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City v Bournemouth (12.30pm)

If you had been asked to pick which one of these teams would be second in the league after nine matches, not many would have picked Bournemouth. But this will be a tough test, and they have won just one of their four away games this season.

City were beaten 1-0 by Villa last week — at third straight league loss at Villa Park — but deserved more from the game. Erling Haaland has not gone two games without a goal at any point this season.

Prediction: 3-1

Monday

Sunderland v Everton (4pm)

Sunderland, another of this season’s surprise packages are in fourth place and only Arsenal, Bournemouth and Manchester United have better records. The basis for their success is the defence, with only two goals conceded at the Stadium of Light this season.

In Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, Everton have the creativity to unlock defences, but they have been struggling away from home. David Moyes’s side have won only one game away from their new stadium this season — against bottom club Wolves.

Prediction: 1-0
