RG Fantasy League: Use your bonus chips on Chelsea’s João Pedro

The final weekend of action before another infuriating international break for RG Fantasy League managers.

With Tottenham facing Manchester United and Manchester City playing Liverpool, there may not be too many chances to play any of your bonus chips, if you haven’t already done so, but there may be one exception.

Chelsea play at home to bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow and João Pedro could well be the ideal candidate to be deployed as a triple captain this week.

The striker is the second-highest scorer among the forwards in this competition and played superbly against Tottenham last week.

Tomorrow

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United (8.30am)

Only West Ham and Wolves have picked up fewer points at home than Tottenham this season, and the form of their attacking midfielders and forwards seems to have dried up of late in this competition.

United have started to find the net with regularity recently, with ten goals during their four-match unbeaten run. Midfielders Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and the highly criticised Casemiro are all on the rise.

Prediction: 1-1

Everton v Fulham (11am)

Everton should have been out of sight against Sunderland but failed to take their chances in a 1-1 draw. Their star player Iliman Ndiaye is rumoured to need a late fitness test.

Fulham snapped a four-game losing streak by beating Wolves 3-0 last week. Midfielder Ryan Sessegnon is one of this game’s more in-form players, racking up 27 points across the last four gameweeks.

Prediction: 1-0

West Ham United v Burnley (11am)

West Ham ended their terrible home run with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle last week and they will hope to follow up that win over one of their relegation rivals. It’s no surprise that Lucas Paquetá and Jarrod Bowen are their top scorers.

Burnley beat Leeds and Wolves before losing to Arsenal last week, and will be no pushovers here. Dutch defender Quilindschy Hartman has four assists in five games and is a very cheap option to unlock some finances further forward.

Prediction: 2-2

Sunderland v Arsenal (1.30pm)

Sunderland have picked up 11 points from their first five league games, but will face a tough assignment against the Premier League’s top team.

Something will have to give, as Robin Roefs and David Raya are the top goalkeepers in the competition.

Declan Rice is also closing in on Moises Caicedo as the game’s top midfielder, while Arsenal players occupy three of the four top spots for defenders.

Viktor Gyökeres is rated 50-50 after picking up an injury against Burnley last week.

Prediction: 0-2

Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers (4pm)

As already mentioned João Pedro is the player to focus on going forward, but Chelsea defenders are also of interest given Wolves have scored just one goal away from home.

Wolves are set to appoint Rob Edwards as their new head coach, but it would take a far higher power to get this squad out of trouble.

Prediction: 3-0

Sunday

Aston Villa v Bournemouth (10am)

After a good run, Villa were poor against Liverpool last week and Bournemouth paid the price for going toe-to-toe against Manchester City.

It is interesting to note that only Burnley have conceded more away goals than Bournemouth this season, which makes Morgan Rogers, Donyell Malen and Ollie Watkins of scoring interest this weekend.

Prediction: 2-1

Brentford v Newcastle United (10am)

It will take a brave manager to pick any Newcastle player when their team play away.

Eddie Howe’s side have not won away from St James’ Park since April and were deservedly beaten in London by West Ham last week.

Brentford are in the top half of the table when it comes to home form — they have claimed the scalps of Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa at the GTech Community Stadium.

Forward Igor Thiago has picked up 30 points in the past five weeks.

Prediction: 2-1

Crystal Palace v Brighton & Hove Albion (10am)

Brighton have struggled away from home, winning just one of their five games on the road. In midfielder Mats Wieffer, they have a player who has picked up 21 points in the past three weeks, with two assists during that time.

Crystal Palace have not lost at home this season, and only Marc Guéhi is preventing the Arsenal backline having a clean sweep of the top defensive spots in the combination.

Prediction: 1-1

Nottingham Forest v Leeds United (10am)

Sean Dyche will be hoping that he can steer Nottingham Forest to a win in the league for the first time since the opening week. There were signs of hope in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United last week.

Leeds have won only one of their four away games.

Prediction: 2-0

Manchester City v Liverpool (12.30pm)

Erling Haaland has failed to score in just two games in all competitions this season, leading him to accumulate more than double the points of any of his City team-mates.

Liverpool snapped their losing Premier League streak last week, but will be without Alexander Isak, who is still struggling for fitness.

Ryan Gravenberch is about to usurp Mohamed Salah as Liverpool’s top point-scoring midfielder.

Prediction: 2-1
