Bermuda among the medals at Carifta Triathlon in Bahamas

Bermuda’s athletes were among the medals at the Carifta Triathlon, Aquathlon and Mixed Relay Championships in Bahamas.

The campaign off to a superb start with the squad claiming five medals, including three gold, on the opening day of competition, with Rory Shepherd claiming top honours in the 11-12 age group, Jackson Langley coming home first in the 13-15 race and Jamie Bedford standing atop the podium in the 16-19 category.

Langley was joined on the podium by Bermuda’s Ollie Hayward, who claimed bronze, while Fenella Wightman went one better with silver in the female 16-19 division.

Two others also came agonisingly close to winning medals, with Somers Estwanik fourth in the female 12-13 division, with her position being matched by Rohan Roopra in the male 13-15 race.
