Hundreds of runners and walkers got into the festive spirit in the Red Cross Jingle Bell 5K race last weekend.

Jamie Bedford was the first of the 200 entrants to cross the finish line, clinching overall victory in the 5k run in a time of 16min 17sec, more than 30 seconds clear of Jackson Langley (16:51) with Tim Price rounding out the podium places in 17:35.

Stepanka Sprincova was the first female finisher, clocking a time of 19:45 for 13th place overall. Teresa Ruiz followed closely behind in 20:15 for second place, pipping Rose-Anna Hoey (20:18) to complete the top-three places.

The event also included a competitive 5k walk, which was won by Laura Wright in 33:15, slightly more than 20 seconds clear of Junior Watts (33:36), with Kenneth O'Neill sealing the final spot on the podium in 34:56.
