Nicholas Pilgrim is determined to finish higher when he competes at the Americas Triathlon Cup Montreal on Saturday.

Pilgrim, who finished 66th at the Americas Triathlon Cup Ixtapa, at the heads into the race ranked thirteenth of 55 in the elite men and has expressed his desire to finish in a decent position.

“I’m ranked thirteenth on the start list so a top 15 would be really good,” the 23-year-old said.

“My last race in Mexico didn’t go as planned. I got a flat tyre on the bike and had to do half of the ride with a flat tyre, which was a bit annoying.

“Gulfport was the first one I did after a broken collarbone earlier in October. I wasn’t as prepared as I would have liked to be for that one, but I’m feeling really fit and ready to go for this one, so I’m quite excited for it.”

After familiarising himself with the course where he finished 39th in July 2025, the Bermudian was optimistic of a better showing.

“I raced here last year and it’s a good fast course,” he said.

“Hopefully, all goes well this time around and I get a better result this time around.”

From Canada, Pilgrim is heading to Chile, where he will join Tyler Smith, Jackson Langley and Oliver Hayward at the Americas Triathlon Championships Antofagasta.

“I’m racing the following weekend as well in Chile,” he said.

“There’s a few others going out, I think Tyler’s doing it and some of the juniors, so that’s a really competitive field. Montreal will be a good warm-up to see how I get on there.”
