Greenslade named All American

Bermuda sailor Josh Greenslade was chosen as one of 13 members of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's (ICSA) All American Skippers for the last school year.All American honours are awarded annually to the nation's top college sailors following the completion of the national championships which this year, were held in St Petersburg, Florida.Greenslade, a former Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Association (BODA) sailor, received an All American honourable mention last year.Former Bermuda resident and BODA sailor Johnny Norfleet, a graduating senior at Hobart William Smith College, was also chosen as an All American skipper.This year Greenslade helped the St Mary's College of Maryland sailing team take second place at the recent ICSA/APS Team Race National Championship in Tampa Bay.The 14 teams that started the national championships were in contention for the prestigious Walter C Wood Trophy.It was St Mary's second year in a row placing second at the championships.Head coach Adam Werblow said: "We capped off our season with a weeklong training session with the Naval Academy and they really pushed us to perform under pressure.“Our dedicated alumni even flew in from around the globe, in some cases, to help us train. It is hard to imagine that we could have reached the podium without them."Bermudians and former BODA sailors, Kyle Burgess and Mackenzie Cooper will be joining Greenslade at St Mary's in September.Olympian Jesse Kirkland is a graduate of St Mary's.
