Going the extra mile paid off for Pike Severance and fellow crew onboard Redwood, who have secured Marion Bermuda Race line honours.

The American team were successful despite having sailed a longer distance to the island chasing the wind. Beverly Yacht Club helmsman Severance steered the Ker 50 across the finish line off St David’s Lighthouse at 7:13am on Wednesday to complete the 645 nautical-mile race with an elapsed sailing time of 4 days, 18 hours 33 minutes and 42 seconds.

Integrity, Gallant, Defiance and Lyric are among the remaining boats to have completed the biennial race so far.
