Hornets run wild in seven-goal rout

Boulevard 0 Dandy Town 7Angelo Simmons scored four goals against his former club as top-of-the-table Dandy Town ripped hapless Boulevard apart at BAA Field on Saturday night. The dismal defeat leaves rock bottom Blazers six points adrift from safety and without a win since beating Hornets in the first game of the season in September.Town, who have leapfrogged PHC on goal difference, were three goals up by the half hour mark with Simmons scrambling home the opener in the fourth minute.Frankson added his team’s second with a thunderous strike from just inside the Blazers half, before Simmons bagged his second, punishing a miskick by Blazers’ makeshift goalkeeper Robert Wilson. After the break, the onslaught continued with youngster Tre Manders adding another with a neat finish before George Dyer notched Hornets’ fifth from the penalty spot after being hauled down by Niko Smith.Simmons then completed his hat-trick with a strike from the edge of the box after being afforded far too much time and space by Blazers abysmal defence. The Bermuda international then completed the rout two minutes from time when he tapped home from close range.Blazers were reduced to ten men late in the game when Smith was sent off for foul and abusive language.Such was Hornets’ dominance, Joma Wilkinson, the team’s coach, believed they could have won by an even greater margin.“It was a vital win and our goal difference will put us ahead of PHC,” he said. “Although we scored a lot of goals tonight I think our finishing could have been even more clinical because we missed a few chances.“Keeping pace with PHC wasn’t our only motivating factor and we just want to keep playing attractive soccer. We’re approaching the business end of the season now and every game will be important from now until the end of the season.”Boulevard: R Wilson, C Hayward, A Foggo, C Trott, D Taylor, R Trott, A Gibbons, N Smith, S Robinson (Z Stovell, 77), T Wilson, J CrockwellSubstitutes not used: A Famous, T Stovell, K Easton, A SmithYellow card: TaylorDandy Town: T Gibbons, A Rocker, G Dyer, B Minors, K Tucker (S Burchall, 75), F Frankson, S Darrell, D Ming, T Manders, A Simmons (Z Tuzo, 89)Substitutes not used: D Chambers, C Burgess, T CainesGoals: Simmons, 4, 28, 86, 88 Frankson, 19, Manders 72, Dyer, 77Referee: R CannMan of the match: A Simmons (Blazers)
