Steede dents Zebras’ hopes

Devonshire Cougars 3PHC 0Kwame Steede bagged a brace as Devonshire Cougars put paid to PHC's league title chances with a comfortable win at Devonshire Rec. last night.Skipper Kijuan Franks opened the scoring for Big Cats."It wasn't a game meaningless to either side given we have the FA Cup to look forward to this week, so we had to come out with the same intensity as we normally do,"said Franks. "It was a good test for us, we dominated from the outset, created the better chances and deserved to win."Franks opened the hosts account in the 24th minute after Steede broke through the PHC defence, sliding the ball across the box for the easiest of goals.Steede had a header saved PHC keeper Troy Hall, while Kevin Lambe could have levelled matters but missed from ten yards.Cougars’ lead was doubled in 56th minute when a Domico Coddington free kick was met by Steede who flicked the ball past Hall.Steede then closed matters when he scored from an acute angle.Although the ball was over the line, referee Leroy Wilson had to rely on his assistant to confirm the goal.
