Title is in our grasp - Simmons

Angelo Simmons has backed Dandy Town to move a step closer to the Premier Division title when they take on Southampton Oval at the Southampton Oval tomorrow. The league leaders are five points ahead of second place PHC, who lost to Devonshire Cougars last night, and could extend their lead even further if they defeat Rangers tomorrow. While Simmons admits his team can see the finishing line in sight, he has urged his team-mates not to take their foot off the gas.“It will be an interesting match for us, we know we will have a chance to either enhance our lead at the top or look to stay five points ahead that’s the fun part of being in the game,” said Simmons.“It’s a tough road test for us and we can’t afford to slip up so we have to make the most of each game we play.“There are only a few games left and we want to win every game, but we know it won’t be easy.“It could be wrapped by this weekend pretty much if results go our way, but we aren’t trying to ask anyone for any favours.”The January Player of the Month also spoke highly of his team-mates for helping him win the award.“There is still a lot of football to be played so we will continue to push for our main objective.“I was pleased to be named as the Player of the Month but it wouldn’t have been possible without my team-mates; they are the ones who did the work to put us where we are and I’m just a player in a good team.”Elsewhere in the top flight, Trojans travel to St George’s to face rivals St George’s, while North Village welcome St David’s to Bernard Park.Robin Hood clash with Boulevard in the battle of BAA Field, with all matches scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
