Southampton Rangers president Randy Raynor has been asked to resign from office, The Royal Gazette can reveal. The former cricketer was given a vote of no confidence outlined in a letter presented to him by his fellow executives at a recent special meeting. It remains unclear why Raynor was asked to resign. However, it is understood that his handling of the club and the club’s poor financial standing are areas of concern. The club’s debt reportedly stood at $160,000 nearly two years ago and is believed to have risen since. It is understood that the club’s Board of Directors are due to meet with club treasurer Gavin Simmons in the very near future to try and get a clearer picture of the club’s financial status.Raynor, who could not be reached for comment yesterday, was informed of the vote of no confidence against him at a meeting held at the club on Monday night.“The president (Raynor) was handed the vote of no confidence at the end of this meeting that was attended by the executive and the Board of Directors,” a club spokesman confirmed. “The executive presented the letter to the president who has not made no contact with us or said anything through our two secretaries.”It is understood that Ryan Belboda, who currently serves on the club’s Board of Directors, has emerged as a potential candidate to succeed Raynor for the presidency.
