Dandy Town hoping for double delight
Dandy Town winger Damon Ming believes winning the FA Cup would be the perfect sign-off to his side’s season as they aim to complete the domestic ‘double’ tomorrow.Town lock horns with North Village at the National Sports Centre (NSC) for the last available piece of silverware, with both sides having already added to their trophy cabinets this season.Village beat Somerset Trojans in the final of the Friendship Trophy on Eve New Year’s Day, while Town were recently crowned Digicel Premier Division champions to go along with their Dudley Eve triumph over Village.Ming, who will play a vital role in the outcome of the match, reckoned that winning the FA Cup would be a fitting end to a season that saw the club dominate.“It is important to finish on a good note, both teams will be looking to end the season on a high and we both have titles this year so it could be about bragging rights,” said Ming.“We are approaching the game in the normal fashion. It is no different to any other match and we have nothing to lose heading into the game so it should be an exciting one to say the least.“We are looking for every player to play their part. It would be a fitting way to end the season.”The St John’s Road club will also be looking to exact revenge after their 2006 FA Cup final loss to VIllage at the same venue, a place that the Rams call home given their rich history of success at the NSC.Neither side have tasted competitive action since their respective FA Cup semi-final matches almost a fortnight ago, but have been put through their paces by their respective coaching staffs. While not trying to crank up the pressure on his team-mates, Ming said he believed adding the second part of the ‘double’ to their already stacked trophy cabinet would be a tribute to the coaching and back room staff at the club.“Winning the cup would be a good reward for the team, we have put in a lot of hard work throughout the season and the coaching staff have put in a lot of hard work and it would be a fitting end if we could win tomorrow.”Kick-off for the final is 4pm.
