Swansea ‘keeper coach to hold training camp

Swansea City’s first team goalkeeper coach Adrian Tucker will be putting the Island’s young shot stoppers through their paces during a training camp at BAA Field next month.Tucker, who holds UEFA ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and Pro licences, coached Wales’ Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 national team keepers and had a stint as manager of the Wales women’s team. The clinic, hosted by the Bermuda Brazilian Football School (BBFS) from June 12 to 17, will see the 35-year-old assist in the development of Bermuda keepers aged of ten and above.BBFS CEO Cal Blankandal said bringing someone of Tucker’s coaching expertise to the Island was a “rare opportunity.”“Now as a valued member of Brendan Rodgers back room staff Adrian’s professionalism and work at Swansea City has seen him work the senior goalkeepers Dorus D’Vries, Jose Moreira and current Netherlands international Michel Vorm,” he said.“The visit of Adrian, who is licensed to coach and manage an English Premier League Club (Pro licence) and holds the highest goalkeeping licences, is a rare opportunity for Bermuda. The mere fact that he is actually active on a daily basis can only benefit all coaches and players.“Prior to his arrival at the Liberty Stadium, Adrian worked for over 13 years with the technical department of the Football Association of Wales.“During this period his personal development progressed not just as a goalkeeping coach to the highest FA ‘A’ Licence Level but also to become one of only three Welsh coaches to receive the UEFA ‘Pro’ Coaching Licence.”Spaces are limited with a maximum availability of 16 players per age group, with the clinic open to both boys and girls. The fee is $50 for coaches and $75 for players, and parents can register their children at infor@bermudabfs.comn The BBFS will also be holding a potluck supper fundraiser, costing $15 per-head, at the BAA clubhouse on June 2 from 6 to 8pm.All proceeds to go aide the BBFS and the 2012 Disney Tours that will be taking place this summer.
