Must-win game for Hogges, says Ming

Bermuda Hogges winger Damon Ming

Bermuda Hogges return to home soil tonight for a “must-win” game against Ocean City at BAA Field.Hogges managed to win just one of their five matches during their recent 12-day road trip, leaving them eighth in the Mid Atlantic Division table. And winger Damon Ming believes Hogges simply have to defeat City to have any chance of getting their stuttering season back on track.“It is vital for us to get points now to help us finish where we want in the table,” said the Dandy Town man.“It would be good to get back to winning ways and move up the ladder; we have had chances to get into the top half and haven’t taken any of them so we will be looking to make the most of these home games,” said Ming.“We don’t want to drop any points at home and we will try and come out with our best foot forward.”Hogges are still unbeaten at home having drawn against New Jersey Rangers and Brooklyn Knights at the start of the season. Their only win came against Knights on their recent away trip, which saw Hogges lose all four of their other matches.Maurice Lowe’s side will be boosted by the return of John Barry Nusum and Antwan Russell who are unable to travel to the US due to work commitments and injury, respectively.Ming believes both players could have important roles to play in both tonight’s match and Sunday’s home game against Central Jersey.“Being back at home gives you a sense of relaxation and a chance to refocus and get back on track,” said Ming, who has scored one goal this season.“Our home field form has been good this year, we haven’t lost at home and we don’t want to let anyone come here and beat us and we want to get back to winning ways.“We were away for a while and coming back home is a good feeling in terms of knowing the surroundings and so forth, and also we were missing a few guys who didn’t travel with us, so it will be interesting to see how the game goes.”Hogges take on Ocean City tonight at 7pm.
