Disney delight for Island’s youngsters

Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School (BBFS) recorded three wins in their four games on the opening day of the Disney Cup to get their campaign off to a flying start in Orlando, Florida.The Under-nine boys and both the Under-12 boys and girls grabbed victories.The Under-14 girls lost a close match in their opener.“We had a great first day . . .” said BBFS CEO Cal Blankendal. “We recorded three wins and a loss in our first ever official competition, something we can be proud of.”The Under-nines beat Merlin Wizards New Jersey 6-5 thanks to a brace from Daniel Cook and Jarry Richardson, while Kaaron Brown and Kashe Hall scored a goal apiece.The Under-12 girls backed up their younger colleagues as they beat Deposito ARENAL FC 5-0, with Teyah Lindo scoring a hat-trick. Jerlayah Kenny and Naziah Webb chipped in with a goal each.D’Andre Washington also scored a hat-trick as the Under-12 boys won 5-1 over CASL Silverbacks NC. Diego Richardson and Tyler Sousa added the other two goals.Greater Osceola United 97 Makos Florida beat the Under-14 girls 3-1 with Dazhja Greaves netting Bermuda’s lone goal.Today will see all four teams in action again.The Under-12 girls play Fraigcomar Puerto Rico, the Under-14 girls meet Lakeland FC 97/98, the Under-nine boys clash with FS Barcelona and the Under-12 boys line up against Hillel Academy Prepatory School.
