Parkinson praises Wells’ display

By Colin Thompson in London, EnglandBradford City boss Phil Parkinson heaped praise on his club’s leading goal scorer Nahki Wells following the Bantams’ emphatic League Two play-off final victory against Northampton Town at Wembley Stadium. He said: “Nahki has been great and I have a lot of respect for him because he’s quite an athlete.“He’s a very good finisher but he’s got a toughness about him as well. He can take criticism on the chin and responds the right way, and has a hunger and desire to be the best he can.”Parkinson also paid homage to Wells’ team high 26 goals this season.“This is really his first full season being a regular player and 26 goals is a great tribute to him and his family back in Bermuda. He speaks much about the great support he receives in Bermuda.“He is a very proud man to come from Bermuda, and I think the whole of Bermuda would’ve been cheering him on.”As for his team’s dominant display, Parkinson added: “It was so important for us today and we delivered, and I am so pleased with the lads.”Wells netted in the 28th minute with a tap in at the back post to extend his impressive scoring record against the Cobblers to seven goals in six appearances. It was the first goal scored by a Bermudian at Wembley.Earlier this season Wells became the first local to play at the new iconic stadium during the Bantams’ League Cup final defeat against Premier side Swansea City.
