BFA finances receive clean opinion

BFA president Larry Mussenden

The Bermuda Football Association’s financial statements have received a clean opinion after being audited by KPMG.

The BFA said the audit was completed in time for it to be presented and approved by the BFA membership just five months after the end of the BFA financial year.

Larry Mussenden, the BFA president, has praised the association’s full-time staff, including Gideon Kigotho, the financial controller, and elected treasurer James Davis.

“We are overwhelmingly pleased, that for several years now, we have had our audited statements produced in such a short period of time,” Mussenden said.

“We recognise that as a large charitable organisation, we are the beneficiary of Government grants, gate revenue from the general public and registration fees from affiliates and players alike.

“We are reassured that the Government, financial partners and people in general can have an extremely high level of confidence in our accounting and sound financial management of our affairs.

“We thank everyone involved and look forward to continuing such high financial standards.”

The BFA will now submit the audited statements to the Charities Commission and the Department of Youth am Sports in the Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports.
