Paget Lions will renew their rivalry with Somerset Eagles when the First Division rivals lock horns for the second time this month in the preliminary round of the FA Cup at Southampton Oval on Sunday.

Eagles may enter the contest with a psychological advantage, having thumped Lions 4-1 in the league at White Hill Field on October 1 in the previous meeting between the two sides.

However, Paget are a completely different animal these days and are in the midst of a three-game unbeaten streak, which includes a stunning 2-0 victory over First Division leaders and inaugural FA Cup winners BAA away from home.

The intriguing match-up will again pit Eagles coach Roger Lee against brother Robert, his Paget counterpart.

Lions and Eagles are one of three all First Division FA Cup ties on Sunday.

Five-times champions Devonshire Colts will meet Southampton Rangers at Police Field in a rematch of the 1984 FA Cup final, which inaugural FA Cup finalists Rangers won for the first time in a replay.

Very little separated Colts and Rangers in the previous meeting between the two teams who played to a 2-2 draw in their First Division league opener at Police Field.

Wolves take on Hamilton Parish at Devonshire Recreation Club in the remaining all First Division FA Cup preliminary round tie.

Making their debut in the competition are Corona League trio West End United, Footy Kings and Tuff Dogs.

United, the Corona League champions, are away to BAA at Goose Gosling Field, Kings travel to Wellington Oval to take on St George’s Colts while Tuff Dogs travel to St David’s Warriors at Lords.

All matches start at 2.30pm.

The Premier Division teams will enter the competition in the first round on the weekend of January 12 to 14.
